What is being studied
A group of Canadian educators is studying whether families in İstanbul want a Canadian (Alberta) curriculum program for Kindergarten to Grade 3, hosted at an existing licensed school in Beylikdüzü, with a possible start in September 2028. Nothing has been approved yet: the program would need approval from Alberta Education and Childcare and from the Turkish Ministry of National Education. Your answers tell us whether to go ahead.
The Alberta curriculum, in brief
- Alberta's Kindergarten to Grade 12 programs of study are set by the Government of Alberta, Canada.
- Instruction is in English, with a strong literacy and numeracy foundation in the early grades.
- The same programs of study, learning resources and standards used in Alberta's own schools.
- A pathway to Canadian and international universities as the program grows.
- Schools outside Canada that deliver it are accredited and monitored by Alberta Education and Childcare.
Who is behind this
The program would be hosted at Al-Fanar International School, Beylikdüzü, a school licensed by the Turkish Ministry of National Education and operating since 2018.
